According to the National Center for Health Statistics at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, it's not just federal employees who are getting fatter by the minute. The average American adult weighs 25 pounds more than his or her counterpart in the early 1960s. But hey, look on the bright side: We're an inch taller, too. Take that, Homo floresiensis!
