Ban the (Cherry) Bomb
Have fun on the Fourth of July, but not with M-80s, M-1000s, Silver Salutes, Quarter Sticks, Quarter Pounders, and Cherry Bombs. That's the advice of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, anyway. Those fireworks are banned by the federal government because they "have almost instantaneous fuses and are designed to detonate other explosives in close proximity." If you must buy fireworks, ATF says, make sure they're legal in your neck of the woods and that you buy them only through licensed dealers.

What about the good stuff they sell at exit #7, I-25, in the Great State of Wyoming? Do eastern and big city whimp laws prevail there?
kmp Posted Friday, June 29, 2007 8:11 AMOn my way back to Kalifornia from New Orleans I stopped off at a gas station/fireworks stand in New Mexico and "stocked up" on goodies that are unobtainable in Kalifornia. While I was in there I asked the sales person about the M-80's and they told me that they are band by the federal government cuz they are considered explosives. so, no m-80's but lots of other kool goodies.
