Mexican Invasion
By Tom Shoop | Wednesday, August 06, 2008  |  05:48 PM

Once again, the Washington Times reports on the unnerving habit that members of the Mexican military apparently have of crossing the border into the United States and pointing their weapons at U.S. Border Patrol agents.

Since 1996, there have been more than 200 confirmed incidents in which Mexican military members entered the United States. The Mexican Embassy chalks them up to misunderstandings, saying that's the kind of thing that happens when both sides are trying to patrol the border. Mexican officials also have said in the past that they think outlaws may be wearing Mexican uniforms to throw off U.S. authorities.

So, what I get out of this debate is that there is a real issue on the Mexican border.

US law enforcement ahs to deal with the danfer every day, and it consistently occurs in the dark of night. The perpetrators use excuses and various other neams to "get away with it" once they are caught.

On the other hand, I would not hold the entire Mexican Nation responsible for these isolated border incidents (no matter pervasive support for such actions). Nor is each individual of Mexican descent a co-conspiritor to their actions.

Yeah, Treasury's Best, which back office do you work in? My buds still on the Southern border give me weekly feedback on this problem, actual frontline accounts. If you believe that the Mexican government is not actively fomenting conflict, I've got a bridge to sell you...Time to wake up, and grow up, these people ARE our enemies, who infiltrate illegally into our country, then claim 'misunderstandings'. Join the ACLU, or move to AZ, NM, and talk to the real people facing these invaders, or stay in Denial Land.

I'm impressed with our Custom Inspector's ability to stereotype and demonize an entire nation. Hopefully cooler heads at the border will prevail. While the Mexican's are apparently not as well trained or disciplined as our folks, I'm not sure this is a good reason to start a war.

Although never having worked at a land border, I have several good friends who have/do. Military/police incursion of a sovereign nation's borders is considered an act of war, unless clearly demonstrated to be a 'mistake'. Mexico is a corrupt, immoral nation that abuses it's citizens, and encourages them to infiltrate here. We may be able to eventually limit illegal infiltration, but illegal military incursion should be stopped, with a bullet.
