Resources

I spoke too soon, clearly, on the resources question at State. Spencer Ackerman has a great post up on a potential coming resource shift between the military and civilian wings of our national security apparatus.

Are you seriously advocating a military state vs. a democratic one? I know from your past posts that you are a hardline conservative with some pretty hardcore views, but I'm sure even you can see how communistic/socialistic (see the former U.S.S.R.) that idea is. While the U.S. military is very good at a great many things, recent conflicts show that when it comes to diplomacy and civil protection, they are not very effective. Shooting first and asking questions later is never the answer.

Dan, are you serious?!  | Friday, December 05, 2008 |  01:39 PM

The military is already underfunded and staffed and Ackerman is proposing that its budget be reduced?? He needs to go back to the drawing board. Just this week the military will start Homeland Security training for local governments. A better solution is for the military to take over every aspect of the government.
State hasn't been effective other than throwing parties in the last 60 years. Name 1 accomplishment that they can claim credit for??
