BREAKING: Council for Excellence In Government To Close
The Council for Excellence In Government will close its doors after 25 years, and the majority of its programs will be absorbed by the Partnership for Public Service. I just talked to Lynn Jennings, the interim president at the Council, and Max Stier, the president at the Partnership, and will have a story up with details shortly.

Government Man Posted Monday, February 9, 2009 4:58 PMI was appalled to learn of the bright red condition of the Council's books and think its recently departed president and its board owe everyone associated with the organization -- from Fellows, to partners and former staff -- a huge apology.
The Council was all about leadership. What is leadership if not about sustaining the mission? On that score every one of them failed flat.
happy retiree Posted Friday, February 13, 2009 8:22 AMThe most appalling thing is that the CEG Board and leadership knew the Council's books were bright red years ago and did little about it. This is one collapse that can't be blamed on the current economic crisis. At least they provided a good example of irony.
