Government Executive Editor in Chief Tom Shoop, along with other editors and staff correspondents, take a fresh look at news affecting the management and operations of the federal bureaucracy.

I'm in Philadelphia and you cannot imagine my amazement to know that the IRS campus was actually closed for two hours on Monday.
For years, we've complained that we never got snow days, even if the downtown office was closed because of the weather.
In fact, the campus remained open one year during a snow emergency (the city was shut down under orders from the mayor) and there were fines involved and a union action.
So I'm glad that we finally got someone willing to use their head and look out for the safety of their employees.
