Rep. Stephen Lynch just said at the National Treasury Employees Union legislative conference lunch that he has 17, count 'em, 17 family members who work for the Postal Service and the federal government. He joked that he's surprised Ed Towns gave him the Federal Workforce Subcommittee chairmanship, given their influence.

"There’s a decided shared view that we have," he said. "Having so many federal employees in my family, they are not shy about letting me know what’s wrong with what they see in the workplace."

COMMENTS

  • That Lynch has so many family members serving the country as feds seems a great motivator for him to acheive excellence at the charimanship. Likewise, those on armed forces subcommittee chairs should have family serving in uniform overseas. These folks on the hill have not lost the capacity to care about the impact of their actions...they sometimes just lack moitvation and understanding.

  • That judge that recently refused to recuse himself from a coal suit after the coal company paid for his election should use this as a case in point. Just as justice should be equal across the branchs of government so too should the need to recuse oneself. Lynch isn't from Illinios is he?
