McCaskill Chimes In On DCAA Leadership Change
By Robert Brodsky
Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., one of the chief congressional critics of the recent problems at the Defense Contract Audit Agency has released a statement about the reassignment of agency Director April Stephenson.
"This is just a first step in a long list of changes that need to happen at DCAA," McCaskill said. "There is a culture at DCAA and the Defense Department that has allowed the agency to go so far down this very wrong path. While I am encouraged by Comptroller Hale's recent decision, the Defense Department still has a long way to go before it restores DCAA's credibility as an auditing agency."

Well said Senator. Good job, and good luck.
Fran Posted Tuesday, October 27, 2009 11:05 AMClair is spot on since she won't be returning after the 2010 election
dan m ketter Posted Wednesday, October 28, 2009 3:46 PMThe new director will have his hands full.
Gerald K. Dodson Posted Wednesday, October 28, 2009 4:39 PMLack of audit resources with two wars going on has been a real problem for DCAA. Perhaps a Federal Audit Agency separate from DOD may be the best solution for the U.S. taxpayer.
The Senator has potential, however, there was no partisan axe to grind or defend in this issue, i.e., her words did not cost a dime.
TDK Posted Thursday, October 29, 2009 11:57 AMSen McCaskill wanted a scapegoat and she got one. Shame on you.
Fran Posted Friday, October 30, 2009 6:48 AMFran: You nailed it. April was an undeserving scapegoat.
DCAA supervisor Posted Friday, October 30, 2009 10:40 AMI understand middle management is nervous, now. I do not understand why my colleagues could not summon the courage to talk back to the SESers and their crazy metric tricks and DMIS games. I did and that is why I am a former RAM. I think Mr. Fitzpatrick should hold the SESers accountable and then hit the middle management just as hard as they clearly let the taxpayers and good auditors down with their SES cheerleading and metric enforcement. Shame on all of them! Everyone is a free agent and has a choice to be ethical or not.
Former RAM Posted Friday, October 30, 2009 4:17 PMI'm so glad that Dan Ketter had comments on this. Except, wait, uhm, Claire McCaskill was elected to the Senate in 2008, does DK know something no one else does?
