A White House spokeswoman said today that the Office of Special Counsel report finding General Services Administration chief Lurita Doan guilty of violating the Hatch Act is still being reviewed. The report was delivered to President Bush two weeks ago.
The spokeswoman also noted that there is no deadline for the White House to meet in completing its review of the OSC findings that Doan violated the law that limits political activity in federal agencies.
Last week, two senior House Democrats joined members of the Senate in calling for Doan to step down.

For every reason spin, spin, spin
iggy | Monday, June 25, 2007 | 09:42 AMThis is a disppointing development, but not unexpected. Poor management across several agencies. The president has some tough choices to make. The bright side is, his opinion poll ratings don't have far to fall. So if he can stand the heat at this level, he can probably stall multiple scandals for an indefinte period. Politically speaking, he gains nothing by being decisive or quick. The tactic is the same for the Gonzalez, Libby, Rumsfield, Brown, and now Doan scenarios. Pretty shrewd. Not good for the agencies' critical missions, though. In the final analysis, this is a sad period.
